People treat Herbert Hainer as a Munich football president who later ran Adidas.

He was born on 3 July 1954 in Dornwang, a parish village now inside the municipality of Moosthenning, about three kilometres northwest of Dingolfing.

English summaries often write Dingolfing. Wikidata records the administrative birthplace as Moosthenning. The village name is Dornwang.

The family trade was the butcher's shop, not sportswear.

Manager Magazin and the Frankfurter Rundschau both describe the boy at the till in the 1960s, learning cash and customers after school in his father's Metzgerei.

He arrived one day before West Germany won the 1954 World Cup in Bern.
