Biography | Herbert Hainer — Elected Bayern President in the Olympiahalle

People treat the Bayern presidency as a job handed across a board table on Sabener Strasse.

This succession was counted in a hall built for the 1972 Games.

On 15 November 2019 the club's annual general meeting met in the Olympiahalle at Spiridon-Louis-Ring 21. BILD counted 6,091 members in the room.

Uli Hoeness did not stand again. The members elected Herbert Hainer as president.

Rheinische Post recorded 79 votes against and 36 abstentions. The club's own site called the majority overwhelming and posted the result the same night.

Hainer was 65. He had sat on the supervisory board of FC Bayern Munchen AG since the company was formed in 2002, for years as deputy chairman, and had already served an interim stretch as chairman in 2014 after Hoeness stepped aside for several months.

The Adidas years matter here. The club biography states that in 2002, while Hainer ran adidas, the company took a roughly ten-percent stake in the AG, a holding later described as material to the Allianz Arena project. A Bundesliga.com profile gives the figure as 8.33 percent. The two numbers are both in circulation; the stake itself is not in dispute.

This is a public hall, not a private office. The visitor can stand on the same Olympic park ground where the vote was taken.

He remains in the role as of 2026, later re-elected. The first night is this one.
