Biography | Lisa Su — The 205th Street School That Sent Her to MIT

People treat AMD's chair as a Silicon Valley product.

The documented path started in a public exam school in the Bronx.

Lisa Tzwu-Fang Su finished the Bronx High School of Science in 1986.

The school stands at 75 West 205th Street, between Paul and Goulden Avenues, in Kingsbridge Heights.

Morris Meister opened it in 1938 as a specialized science high school of the New York City Board of Education.

Girls were admitted from 1946.

The present building, by Emery Roth and Sons, opened in 1959 after twenty years in temporary quarters.

Admission still runs through the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test.

She was born in Tainan, Taiwan, on 7 November 1969.

The family moved to New York when she was three.

By the time she sat these classrooms she had already taken apart remote-control cars and used an Apple II.

The school does not keep a public record of a private home for her, and this pin is the building a visitor can stand in front of.

From here she enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall of 1986.

That is the next documented step, not a later office park.

A visitor still finds the same street front on West 205th Street.

On a school day the building is an ordinary specialized public high school.
