Biography|Melker Schörling — Securitas Listed on This Exchange

On 9 July 1991 Securitas AB was listed on the Stockholm Stock Exchange's O-list.

The Swedish Tax Agency's share-history file records the date; on 11 September the same year the share moved to the A-list.

Melker Schörling had been president and CEO since 1987, and an owner at the same time.

Investment AB Latour, controlled by Gustaf Douglas, had bought the Swedish security business from Skrinet in 1985.

Douglas needed an operator.

Schörling, coming off Crawford Door, took the job and bought into the company — later company histories say about 17 percent.

Securitas's own timeline is blunt about what followed.

Under his leadership the firm left the multi-service clutter of the early 1980s and went back to security.

International expansion started in 1989–1990 with purchases in Norway, Denmark and Portugal.

The 1991 listing was the public proof that a rebuilt Swedish guard company could be a listed industrial project, not a family sideline.

He stepped from CEO to chairman in 1992 and held the chair until 2017.

Thomas Berglund took the CEO title in 1993.

The present group headquarters is at Lindhagensplan 70 on Kungsholmen, a later address.

The 1987 office is not securely pinned, so the listing belongs at the exchange, not at today's lobby.

Börshuset on Stortorget is the building that housed the Stockholm Stock Exchange when that 1991 tape started.

From this square the three red dots became a share you could buy.
