J-Drama Pilgrimage | 天皇の料理番 Tenno no Ryoriban (2015) — 大内宿 / Takefu Townscape

Drama: TBS『天皇の料理番』 / Tennō no Ryōriban / The Emperor's Cook (2015), scoped specifically to the 12-episode 2015 TBS adaptation starring Takeru Satoh, not the separate 1980 TBS series based on the same novel.

Episode 1 aired on 26 April 2015. The Nationwide Filming Location Guide identifies 大内宿 / Ōuchi-juku in Shimogō, Fukushima as the real location used for the drama's 武生 / Takefu townscape. A contemporary location record also places an early Episode 1 sequence here in which monks carry the troublesome young Atsuzō through the old-fashioned settlement. The preserved post-town streets therefore give pilgrims one of the clearest real-world links to the rural starting point of Atsuzō's long journey toward becoming an imperial cook.

Ōuchi-juku remains a living historic settlement rather than a studio set. The local tourism association explains that the thatched buildings are still used as homes and shops, and that the district is protected as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings. Visitors should treat the street as a community first: stay on public routes, respect residents and shop operations, and avoid entering private houses or fields for a supposed camera angle. The stored coordinate 37.3342, 139.8608 is a representative townscape anchor near the central preserved street; it is not claimed as the monks' exact path, an actor mark, or the 2015 camera position.
