Biography | Daisy Veerasingham — The New Revenue Job Announced While She Still Worked in Camden

People treat a New York dateline as proof the person was already in Manhattan.

On 11 December 2018 the Associated Press named her chief revenue officer from New York.

The role itself started on 1 January 2019.

She was still based at The Interchange on Oval Road, the same Camden warehouse where she had joined AP Television News fourteen years earlier.

AP's own story said the new title would consolidate global revenue under one director as the 172-year-old cooperative looked past newspapers.

She had overseen sales across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia and Asia since 2008, and had been senior vice president for international revenue since 2010.

The same dispatch credited her with the redesign of AP's video business, including AP Video Hub.

She would remain on the seven-member Senior Management Committee, one of four women then reporting directly to the chief executive.

The announcement ran under a New York slug.

The work it described had been done from London.

AP later recorded that about 40 percent of its revenue was by then coming from outside the United States, double the share of fifteen years earlier.

That shift is the context for why a British sales director, not a New York editor, was put over the whole book.
