白夜行 Byakuyakou (2006) | Former Iseya Pawnshop — Kirihara Pawnshop

The Former Iseya Pawnshop in Hongo is the surviving building used as the pawnshop “Kirihara,” the childhood home of Kirihara Ryoji, in episode 1 of TBS’s 2006 白夜行, broadcast January 12, 2006. The filming-location record identifies this Hongo property specifically for the 1991 pawnshop scenes that anchor the drama’s murder backstory.

The building is not a purpose-built drama set. Iseya was a real pawnshop founded in 1860 and is historically associated with writer Higuchi Ichiyo. Atomi Gakuen acquired and preserved the property in 2015, and it became a Bunkyo City-designated tangible cultural property in 2016. Atomi currently opens it to the public mainly on weekends, generally 12:00–16:00, subject to its calendar.

The pin marks the historic building itself, not a particular room, doorway, actor position, or camera setup from 2005 filming. Visit only during official public-opening periods and treat the surrounding Hongo lanes as an ordinary residential neighborhood rather than an extension of the set.
