Biography | 佐藤恒治 Koji Sato — The Toyota-cho Headquarters Where He Became the Twelfth President

Sato's appointment as president and chief executive took effect on 1 April 2023.

He became the twelfth president of Toyota Motor Corporation.

The legal seat of that office is 1 Toyota-cho, Toyota City.

Shareholders confirmed him as a representative director after the 119th ordinary general meeting in June 2023.

He is the first engineer from outside the Toyoda family to hold the presidency.

Tatsuro Toyoda, who took the job in 1992, had been the previous science-trained head.

Sato's official career page records the April 2023 titles as Operating Officer and President, and Chief Executive Officer.

The present headquarters tower on this lot opened in February 2005.

The Honsha Plant shares the same Toyota-cho address.

On 1 April 2026 Sato moved to vice chairman and a new post of chief industry officer.

Kenta Kon became president and CEO the same day.

Toyota said the split would let Sato work the industry brief, including the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association chair he had taken in January 2026.

Three years is a short presidency by Toyota standards.

Akio Toyoda had held the job for nearly fourteen.

The tower on this lot is where the title sat for those three years.

A visitor cannot walk the executive floors.
