Concert History | Tina Turner at Idalp — A Ski-Lift Hub Became a 2,317-Metre Concert Venue

On May 1, 1996, Tina Turner played Ischgl’s Top of the Mountain closing concert on Idalp rather than in an arena in the valley. Ischgl’s official concert archive fixes the date and calls the address “Ischgl Stage, Idalp”: https://www.ischgl.com/en/events-experiences/tom-archive/concert-archive/tina-turner_event_176916. ORF’s contemporary report, broadcast the next evening, independently identifies the concert as taking place on the Idalpe: https://on.orf.at/video/13971671/superstar-tina-turner-auf-der-idalpe.

The place changed the mechanics of the show. Idalp is a ski-lift and restaurant hub high above Ischgl, not a street-address venue. Tirol’s official route guide places its mountain station at 2,317 metres and says the cable car carries visitors there: https://www.tyrol.com/activities/sport/hiking/hiking-tours/ischgl-tour-02-erlebniswanderweg-ischgl-idalp. The lift network, slopes and service buildings therefore supplied the access infrastructure that allowed a touring concert to occupy an alpine pasture. ORF’s report framed the event as proof that Ischgl could present itself as an event destination. No claim is made here about the 1996 ticket or ski-pass terms; the accessible archival record does not establish them.
