Concert History | St. Louis Arena — The Sunday Show Between a Postponement and a Cancellation

On Sunday, 13 March 1988, Michael Jackson performed at St. Louis Arena during the Bad World Tour. The useful history of this session is not a set list. It is how one arena date remained workable while the booking around it broke apart.

The day before, United Press International reported that Jackson had postponed the Saturday performance because of a cold and moved it to Monday, 14 March, at the same arena. The Sunday concert remained on the schedule. An Associated Press report printed on 16 March by Indiana's Banner Graphic records what followed: Jackson performed Sunday as planned, then cancelled the rescheduled Monday show after the illness progressed to laryngitis. Ticket refunds began Tuesday. Arena manager Roger Dixon told AP that promoter TCC Productions had notified him of the cancellation.

That sequence makes the 13 March session a place-based example of arena-tour contingency. A health problem did not erase the whole stop at once: one ticketed performance was moved, the adjacent performance went ahead, and the moved date was later cancelled and refunded. The completed Sunday show sat between the first postponement and the final cancellation.
