People treat UDR as a Highlands Ranch apartment REIT that always printed UDR after a finished New York book.
The present legal name arrived as a shortening of an already-listed Richmond trust.
Finance-data tables record a public print of the common stock from 17 March 1980.
An SEC Form 8-K dated 15 March 2007 records that United Dominion Realty Trust, Inc. filed Maryland articles of amendment on 14 March 2007 to change the corporate name to UDR, Inc.
A company release the same week records that the NYSE ticker would remain UDR and that only the CUSIP of the common stock would change.
SEC header files still list the former names Old Dominion Real Estate Investment Trust and United Dominion Realty Trust Inc.
The mechanism of the 2007 rename is a legal-name reprint of an already-listed New York apartment book, not a cash IPO and not a ticker retirement.
The pin is the Broad Street facade of the Exchange, where UDR prints. Interior trading is not visitable from the sidewalk.
