People treat ANA as a Haneda and Narita carrier that always flew a 787 as launch customer.
The first company was a helicopter book with sixteen employees.
On 27 December 1952 Japan Helicopter Transport Co., Ltd. completed registration with capital of 150 million yen, twelve officers, and sixteen staff. The day before, Far East Airlines had also registered. On 25 December the new firm had already bought two Bell helicopters.
The first scheduled service was not a passenger jet. On 15 December 1953 a de Havilland Dove (JA5008) opened a Tokyo-Osaka cargo and mail run, the first postwar Japanese-piloted scheduled flight under the Japan Helicopter book. Passenger Dove service on the same city pair began on 1 February 1954.
On 1 December 1957 the company took the name All Nippon Airways after merging with Far East Airlines. The holding company ANA Holdings Inc. adopted that name on 1 April 2013. The present office is Shiodome City Center, 1-5-2 Higashi-Shimbashi, Minato-ku.
One of the original Bells later stood in a training hall. In 2020 it was moved to ANA Blue Base at Haneda.
The mechanism is a helicopter licence used as an airline seed. After the occupation ban lifted, a small rotary-wing company bought fixed-wing mail routes and kept the same legal book.
This pin is the Shiodome tower that now files the group accounts. The 1952 rooms are gone. The surviving machine is across the bay at Haneda.
