People treat Doosan as an Euljiro tower that always built power plants and Bobcat loaders.
The first firm sold cloth.
In August 1896 Park Seung-jik opened Park Seung-jik Store in Baeogae, now Jongno 4-ga, Seoul.
The shop dealt in imported and domestic textiles.
In 1915 he added Bakgabun, a face powder that became a registered cosmetic trademark.
The store incorporated in 1925.
After 1945 the family acquired a brewery and, in 1946, took the Doosan name.
Doosan is routinely described as Korea's oldest continuously operating large firm, a claim the company dates from that 1896 counter.
Doosan Tower now stands in Euljiro 6-ga, Jung-gu.
The 1896 shop on Jongno 4-ga is gone.
The pin marks the quarter, not a surviving door.
Accuracy is at the neighborhood scale, about 500 metres.
