People treat KDDI as a Takanawa tower that always sold an au plan after DDI, KDD, and IDO folded into one book in 2000.
The first book was a planning company written to undercut a state telephone.
On 1 June 1984 Kazuo Inamori of Kyocera and twenty-four co-investors formed Daini Denden Kikaku with 2 billion yen of capital. Kyocera took 28 percent. The first rooms sat at 8 Ichibancho, Chiyoda-ku.
NTT was about to leave the public-corporation ledger. DDI had no railway right-of-way and no highway ducts. It put microwave relays on ridgelines between Tokyo and Osaka and opened leased-line service in October 1986.
In October 2000 DDI absorbed KDD and IDO and took the KDDI name. The mechanism was a second carrier written so a monopoly tariff could be competed down without the new house owning the old wires.
The pin is Ichibancho, where the planning company first sat.
