People treat Workday as a Pleasanton campus that always sold cloud ERP.
The company started after Oracle bought PeopleSoft.
Dave Duffield and Aneel Bhusri founded Workday in March 2005.
Workday's own about page places the decision at a brunch in the Jax Truckee Diner.
The first product, Human Capital Management, launched in November 2006.
The San Francisco Chronicle recorded the December 2008 move from 2033 North Main Street in Walnut Creek to Pleasanton Corporate Commons by Stoneridge Mall.
Shares listed in October 2012.
The offering priced at 28 dollars and closed the first day at 48.69 dollars, a 9.5 billion dollar capitalization including options, as reported at the time.
Headquarters remains 6230 Stoneridge Mall Road.
