People treat Hanwha as the Cheonggyecheon tower at 86 that always sold a satellite and a life policy from a renamed powder house.
The first book was domestic dynamite.
On 28 October 1952 Kim Chong-hee incorporated Korea Explosives in Busan after taking the Joseon gunpowder distribution rights that June. The office later moved to Hoehyeon-dong. In October 1955 the firm bought the Incheon powder works of Chosun Oil and Fat.
Domestic dynamite followed in 1957. By June 1959 the industrial-explosives book no longer needed an import. The name shortened to Hanwha in 1992.
The mechanism was a reconstruction monopoly: a private powder works written so roads, mines, and later a chaebol could be built without imported charges.
