People treat ServiceNow as a Santa Clara software tower that always sold workflow clouds.
The first company name was Glidesoft and the first desk was in San Diego.
On 5 November 2003 Fred Luddy incorporated the firm two weeks before his fiftieth birthday.
He had been chief technology officer at Peregrine Systems, the San Diego enterprise-software house that collapsed in an accounting scandal in 2002.
The ServiceNow company blog records him starting on a single laptop at a desk in his house.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reported that he was the only employee until mid-2005, when JMI Equity put in 2.5 million dollars in 2005 dollars and the firm hired five people.
In 2006 the name became Service-Now.com.
By 2007 annual revenue was 13 million dollars in 2007 dollars and the first Silicon Valley office opened in San Jose.
Shares listed on the New York Stock Exchange in July 2012 under the ticker NOW.
Headquarters moved to Santa Clara in late 2013.
The product organization stayed on Eastgate Mall in University City.
Nominatim still labels 4810 Eastgate Mall as ServiceNow Building A.

Do not describe the house where the first laptop sat.
What survived is an IT-service desk rebuilt as a multi-product cloud after the San Diego predecessor had already failed.
