People treat Lululemon as a Vancouver listing that always sold technical tights from a glass campus on Water Street.
The first rooms were a design studio by day and a yoga studio by night.
Chip Wilson founded the company in Vancouver in 1998.
The first standalone shop opened in November 2000 at 2101 West 4th Avenue, on the northwest corner with Arbutus Street in Kitsilano.
The store shared the floor with yoga classes so the garments could be tried in the practice they were cut for.
Wilson's family lived a few blocks away.
The shop later absorbed the former Midas bay next door and still carries a plaque that reads In Practice Since 1998.
The mechanism was a technical women's yoga pant sold in the neighbourhood that practiced, not a licensed team jersey.
Stand at Fourth and Arbutus and you are at the first counter.
