People treat Fujitsu as a Shiodome office tower that always sold software.
The first plant made telephone switches.
On 20 June 1935 Fuji Tsushinki Seizo K.K. was spun out of Fuji Electric’s communications division.
Fuji Electric itself was the 1923 Furukawa-Siemens joint venture whose name fused Fu from Furukawa and Ji from Siemens.
The new company used the parent logo: an F laid over an S.
In September 1938 it completed a plant at Kamikodanaka in Kawasaki and left the Fuji Electric floor.
In 1940 it delivered a domestically built T-type automatic exchange to the Ministry of Communications.
After the war the Type 3 telephone set was accepted by the ministry and went into the ruined network.
Shares listed on the reopened Tokyo Stock Exchange in May 1949.
The registered head office is still 4-1-1 Kamikodanaka, Nakahara-ku, Kawasaki, now branded Fujitsu Technology Park.
A later Tokyo address at Shiodome City Center is a headquarters overlay, not the founding lot.

The 1935 rooms inside Fuji Electric are gone.
What survived the shift from switches to computers is a communications manufacturer that kept its plant on the same Kawasaki block it occupied in 1938.
