People treat Aeon as a Mihama-ku, Chiba listing that always ran a general merchandise floor and an AEON MALL from a triple head office in Japan, China, and ASEAN.
The first book was a Yokkaichi draper.
In 1758 Sozaemon Okada opened Shinoharaya in Hisai-roku-cho, selling kimono cloth and sundries.
The house later took the family name Okadaya.
On 21 September 1926 the sixth-generation head incorporated Kabushiki-gaisha Okadaya Gofukuten with 250,000 yen of capital.
That is the dated corporate first book behind today's ticker 8267.
In 1969 Okadaya joined Futagi of Himeji and Shiro of Toyonaka as equal partners in Jusco, Japan United Stores Company, a name the staff chose in a contest.
The group renamed itself Aeon in 1989. Jusco Co., Ltd. became Aeon Co., Ltd. on 21 August 2001.
The pin is Suwa-sakae in Yokkaichi, the station-front street where Okadaya built its postwar department store and where the founding house kept its register.
The mechanism is a regional kimono shop that federated two other regional chains instead of waiting to be bought, then kept the federation as a listed general-merchandise book.
