People treat NC as a Pangyo campus that always sold Lineage from a three-letter house renamed off Soft.
The first book was a business-software shop.
On 11 March 1997 Kim Taek-jin, who had shipped the Hangul word processor, incorporated NCSoft. An HTML editor went out first. Lineage opened in September 1998 and, by December 2000, held more than 100,000 concurrent seats in Korea.
The firm listed on KOSDAQ in 2000 and moved the main work to Pangyo. Lineage II, Aion, Blade & Soul, and Guild Wars were later chapters of the same subscription-and-item book.
The mechanism was a persistent world that billed by the hour, then by the costume.
