People treat Dexcom as the Sequence Drive campus in Sorrento Valley that always sold a G-series patch from a Nasdaq-100 book.
The first book was a Delaware corporation written to put a glucose number on skin instead of a finger stick.
On 13 May 1999 John Burd, Scott Glenn, Lauren Otsuki, Ellen Preston and Bret Megargel incorporated DexCom.
Burd had spent the 1990s on point-of-care diagnostics. The team named the house for dexterity and communication, then sat in San Diego while the first three-day STS sensor waited for the Food and Drug Administration.
The company listed on Nasdaq in 2005. The STS clearance arrived in 2006 and put up to 288 readings into a twenty-four-hour window.
A later Seven system stretched wear from three days to seven. The mechanism is a disposable filament under the skin that reports interstitial glucose to a receiver, then to a phone, without a laboratory draw.
The pin is Sequence Drive in Sorrento Valley, the San Diego street the public company still lists, not a later Mesa or Ireland plant.
